Gymnast Pranati Nayak finished sixth in the Asian Games final

India’s Pranati Nayak finished sixth in the women’s artistic gymnastics vault final at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Thursday.The 31-year-old, the only Indian gymnast at the Games, scored 13.100 in the eight-woman final.Pranati scored 12,900 on both her first and second jumps. She attempted a difficulty score of 4.4 on both vaults and received an execution score of 8.500 each time. A bonus of .20 was added to her total, bringing her total score to 13.100.Pranati recovered from a leg injury to qualify for the Asian Games.South Korea’s Yeo Seojeong won the gold medal with a 14.100. North Korea’s An Chang Ok took silver with 13.033, while China’s Du Siyu took bronze with 12.800.The result was an improvement for Pranati from her previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, where she finished eighth with a score of 12.350.Earlier this year, Pranati missed out on the vaulting final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after failing to qualify.Ashish Kumar’s bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou remains India’s only medal in gymnastics at the Asian Games.
