A 26-year-old gym trainer reportedly ended his life after learning that the woman he was in a relationship with was engaged to another man. The incident took place in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran (26), a bodybuilder and gym trainer.
According to the police, Kiran was in a relationship with a woman for the past three years. Recently, the woman informed him that her marriage had been fixed with another person and even showed him the wedding invitation and a new saree, which reportedly made him very sad.
Police said Kiran returned home, locked himself in his room and allegedly killed himself. The incident came to light when his family members forced open the door. The police were immediately informed and the body was taken to Victoria Hospital for an autopsy.
The deceased’s family said Kiran was going to gift the woman something on Valentine’s Day but was devastated after learning about her engagement.
Meanwhile, Kiran’s parents filed a complaint alleging that their son was emotionally and financially exploited. They claimed that the woman’s family had a loan of around ₹ 50 lakh and Kiran assured them that he would help clear the loan.
The woman reportedly visited Kiran’s house about eight months ago and asked his family to agree to their marriage.
The woman was said to be two years older than Kiran and her marriage was said to have been finalized just a week ago. The parents claimed that after receiving financial support, the woman continued with another relationship, which allegedly pushed their son to an extreme step. The police registered the case.
