Calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for allegedly misleading the public over changes made to Form 6, which is usually used for first-time voter registration, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja said the Supreme Court’s remarks on the issue on Monday (October 5, 2026) raised questions about the Election Commission of India (Election Commission) and c.Iredality.

The Supreme Court on Monday (October 5) noted that the revised Form 6 was not approved by the apex court, contrary to the claim made in the ECI’s September 26 press release.

Mr. Raja alleged that Mr. Kumar used the name of the Supreme Court to justify the changes and ignored objections raised by other Election Commissioners. “This is absolutely shameless. Gyanesh Kumar has destroyed the credibility and impartiality of the Election Commission and is now exposed for defrauding the country, Gyanesh Kumar is a vote chor (thief), a liar and a butcher of democracy,” Mr Raja said in a post on X.

The Election Commission, Mr. Raja said, must provide answers as to who altered Form 6 and who allowed the false statement, referring the Supreme Court. “If electoral democracy is to survive, it is necessary for this man to step down,” Raja said.
