
Justice B. Sai Kalyan Chakravarthi, Chief District and Sessions Judge, Guntur, presents a check of ₹ 1 crore to the complainant during the Lok Adalat here on Saturday.
A total of 23,287 cases, including 1,407 civil cases, were settled in Guntur district during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday (December 13), setting a new national record.
The District Judiciary achieved a landmark resolution of the cases under the leadership of Justice Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, Executive Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, and Justice Rao Raghunandan Rao, Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Administrative Judge for Guntur District, said Justice B. Sai Kalyan Chakravarthi, Chief Lokal District Judge and Adalatsion, who presided over the proceedings of the Chief Lokalt District Judge. here.
According to official data, 21,816 criminal cases and 97 pre-indictment cases were out of the total cases handled. The settlement resulted in a total realization of ₹57.6 million. This included ₹26.2 crore from 338 original motor vehicle petitions and ₹31.4 crore from 578 cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Syed Ziyauddin, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Guntur said that two major cases involving crores of rupees were settled amicably during the Lok Adalat, reflecting the effectiveness of conciliation through the legal services system.
The district has shown remarkable consistency in disposing of civil cases during successive Lok Adalats. Guntur disposed of 1,076 civil cases on July 5, 2025 and 937 civil cases on September 13, 2025. On Saturday, it crossed both the numbers, beating the record it set in the previous two sessions and becoming the first in civil cases at the national level.
Notable settlements included a road accident claim related to the death of Naru Ashok in 2024 near Chilakaluripet, which was settled for ₹1 million against a claim of ₹1.40 million. Another notable settlement involved five cases of dishonor of checks worth ₹ 20 crore between complainant M/s Vignan Education Foundation Trust and opponent P. Raja Rammohan Rao.
