Emphasizing that there will be no compromise in providing safe drinking water to the residents, Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok on Saturday directed the officials to strictly monitor the contamination of drinking water.
During the extensive inspection of Srinagar, Sarada Colony, Sanjeevaiah Nagar, Sugali Colony and Sivanagaraju Colony, the Municipal Commissioner inspected the civil works and drinking water supply systems. He issued a series of instructions to officials.
Mr. Ashok ordered a special audit of drinking water pipelines in the jurisdiction of each departmental secretariat to identify sections near drainage pipelines and technically examine them to prevent contamination. He made ammonia testing mandatory in all suspected areas and directed officials to upload all water quality and comfort test results on a designated portal.
Mr. Mayur Ashok took serious note of the drinking water pipe found passing through the sewer in Sugali Colony and directed the Superintending Engineer to issue a notice of alleged negligence to the concerned Secretary in this regard.
While inspecting the tank at Sarada Colony, Mr. Ashok directed the officials to remove unnecessary materials from the premises, maintain hygiene and conduct regular chlorine tests with proper documentation.
He directed planning officials to remove construction debris from roads and ensure cleanliness in vacant lots and residential areas.
