Gulveer Singh said that the year 2025 was personally good for him, despite his break at the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo. Gulveer was supposed to forget a moment in 5,000 meters of qualifications when he missed a beard in the final. The difference for 27 years was only 0.19 seconds as Missed completion in TOP 8.
Gulveer also ended in 16th place in the final event of 10,000 m. Despite this, the Gulveer remained positive when he secured a gold medal for 10,000 meters at the Asian Athletic Championship in May. Today, the Indian star talked to India today in an exclusive chat and said it was a little improved every year and 2025 was not that bad.
“It is great for me because I got gold at the Asian Championship. Every year it is a little better, so I will say it well for every year. I won’t say it’s bad. Since I started the game every year,” Gulveer said.
The difference between Asian and world levels
Gulveer also commented on the difference between the level of competition in Asia and in terms of competition, such as the World Athletics Championship. The Indian runner said that more experienced athletes participate in world events, but noted that things were improving in India.
Gulveer feels that 2026 will be important because there will be Asian games.
“At the world level, very good athletes come, more experienced than us. They are slowly improving in India, because AFI gave us foreign coaches. We are constantly training with them, so in any case there is an improvement. It was the order, but now you qualify and then go.
“2026 is very important because of Asian Games. The 2028 Olympics is also very important,” Gulveer said.
When he talked about his strategy for 2026, Gulveer said it all would come to what his coach was planning for him.
“It depends on the coach – what he does, what type of training makes us do.
