The PM Vishwakarma scheme paid out loans exceeding 290 GBP Crore by more than 32,000 craftsmen in Gujarat since their launch in September 2023, according to civil servants. Credit sanctions within this system have exceeded 390 GBP Crore by more than 43,000 recipients. The three -stage verification was completed for 2,14 Lakh craftsmen, while 1.81 Lakh underwent skills, the state government reported.
According to officials, the state created assistance with Helpdesk, which dealt with more than 17,500 questions and complaints. The craftsmen are registered through conventional service centers, with a three -stage verification system including the local Gram Panchayats, the District Committees and the State Committee, Chaired by MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) -DFO (Development and Facilitation Office).
The scheme covers 18 traditional shops, including carpentry, blacksmithing, ceramics, tailoring, masonry, toys and basket weaving. They try to maintain the crafts of heritage and at the same time allow craftsmen to access modern tools, loans and market links, they said.
Officials said the program focused on transparency and availability to reduce obstacles to craftsmen looking for formal development of loans and skills. The state government reported extensive participation across rural and urban areas with special emphasis on marginalized and rural craftsmen.
“The scheme of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma is part of a wider effort to strengthen the informal sector, increase opportunities for living and reviving traditional Indian crafts within the” vocal for local “initiative. Gujarat was marked as one of the high -performance states in the scheme, ”said officials.
