The Gujarat police ranked third among major Indian states in recovering stolen mobile phones, returning 53,564 devices to their owners in the 2025-26 financial year under the Central Equipment Registry (CEIR) system, officials said on Thursday (30 April 2026). Under the Department of Telecommunications’ CEIR system, the state police successfully traced and returned 53,564 mobile phones to their rightful owners, recording a recovery rate of 46.71%.
The CEIR platform enables nationwide blocking and tracking of lost or stolen mobile devices across telecommunications networks. Officials said Gujarat’s performance reflected strong coordination between police units and telecommunications data systems.
