Gujarat allocates Rs 301 crore for 2030 Commonwealth Games, sets up organizing company

The Gujarat government has earmarked Rs 301 crore for preparations to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, including Rs 200 crore to pay the host fee, the state assembly was informed on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who holds the portfolio of sports and youth services, gave the details in a written reply during question hour on the second day of the monsoon session of the state assembly. Congress MLA Amit Chavda asked the question.

Sanghavi confirmed it Gujarat has won the rights to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

The state has signed a Host Cooperation Agreement (HCA) for the Games and paid the host fee, he said.

The government has also constituted a company called “Amdavad 2030 Games Organisation” under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 vide resolution dated August 12, 2026 for the planning and management of the Games, according to the reply.

Necessary arrangements have also been made regarding the organization of sports events, management of venues and other measures related to the Games, he said.

He said the state government has been in consultation with Commonwealth Sport, Indian Olympic Association and international sports federations regarding preparations for the event.

According to the reply, Rs 100 crore has been earmarked over the past year as revenue for hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

An additional 1 million rupees has been set aside as a token provision under the equity capital for hosting the Games, while 200 million rupees has been allocated to pay the host fee under the co-operation agreement with the host.

The total allocation for the games is Rs 301 crore, the reply said.

The 2030 Commonwealth Games are to be held in Gujarat, with Ahmedabad as the centerpiece of preparations.
