The Gudalur forest division has intensified its efforts to catch a tiger, who allegedly killed around 20 cattle heads in the Devarsholai area.
The animal, which is expected to be about two years old, allegedly killed cattle for two months and recently announced after public outrage that the forest department announced that on the basis of the Council of the State Main Guard would be made efforts to capture the animal and relocate from the area.
To monitor the tigers’ movements, the camera traps were installed in the Devarsolai area and around it, where it was observed, while the Pug brands and other indicators of the Tiger movement are also constantly evaluated, the Gudalur department officials said.
In addition, five cages were established in an effort to capture the animal, while other cages were provided by the forest department of Kerala. Forest officials said that cameras traps were set at more than 50 locations throughout the area where the tiger was last believed to have been seen, while Kumki elephants from the Theppakada forest line are also used to carry out patrols to help watch the animal.
The cage, brought to Gudalur, was provided by the Kerala forest department and has a length of about 30 feet, a height of 15 feet and 10 feet wide, stated officials, with more than 50 workers to maintain the cards in the situation.
P. Radhakrishnan, a forest reach (Gudalur), said that the tiger has not been seen since the last week, but said that the effort to monitor the animal continues.
