Officials in Mysuru district have been directed to focus on extending the benefits of the five guarantee schemes to remote and tribal-dominated areas. They have been asked to launch more awareness drives in these regions to inform people about the schemes and how they can benefit from them.
In this regard, Mysuru District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Chairman Arun Kumar S. held a review meeting on Friday and instructed the officials to create awareness among the people by visiting villages and ensure that the benefits reach all the eligible beneficiaries.
Presiding over a meeting held at the zilla panchayat, Mr. Kumar directed officials to organize awareness camps, especially in remote and tribal areas, to educate people about the guarantee schemes. “They must verify that all the beneficiaries are receiving benefits. If any claims have been rejected, they should be re-examined to ensure that no beneficiary is left out,” he said.
Referring to the rice distribution scheme, Anna Bhagya said that complaints have been received from some areas about the poor quality of rice and ragi distributed. “The officials concerned should visit the godowns and verify the quality of food grains,” Mr. Kumar said.
Talking about the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Mr. Kumar said there were complaints that many women were yet to get the benefit. Officials must ensure that payments are made properly and on time, he added.
There were no major problems in the Yuva Nidhi scheme, but officials should still verify that the benefits are reaching all eligible youths in rural areas, he said.
Regarding the Shakti scheme, Mr. Kumar said that several complaints have been reported and they must be addressed at the earliest by taking necessary action. However, he appreciated the smooth implementation of the Gruha Jyothi scheme without complaints and urged the officials to continue the good work.
“There should be no negative news or controversy about any guarantee scheme. Every department must work responsibly to ensure that all the schemes reach the rightful beneficiaries,” Mr Kumat told the meeting.
Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Yukesh Kumar and other members were present.
