GT vs RR: Bizarre Toss mix-up leads to re-spin, RR opt to bat in IPL Qualfier 2

Well, it wasn’t the start everyone was hoping for when it came to the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 as confusion reigned in the draw. Rajasthan Royals won the toss in Mullanpur, but only after a re-spin.

RR vs GT, IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 Update

Shubman Gill spun the coin but Riyan Parag’s call was not loud enough for the match referee Prakash Bhatt and it left everyone stunned. Ravi Shastri, who was handling the broadcasting duties, suddenly announced that the toss would be repeated. This time there was a toss and it went in favor of RR who chose to bat first.

Gill, looking a little frustrated with what happened at the throw-in, said he would have opted to bat as well and said it was unfortunate the match umpire didn’t hear the call. For the first time, the toss went in GT’s favor when it landed tails after Riyan called heads.

“We would have batted first. There have been 40 overs on this pitch. I don’t think much has changed. Unfortunately, I don’t think the umpire heard the call from Riyan,” Gill said at the toss.
