Karnataka merchants decided to withdraw the nationwide protest planned on Friday (July 25) after the government decided to collect three years of arrears on goods and services (GST) from small traders in the unified payment interface (UPI), exceeding the annual turnover of £ 40.
However, traders were told to register within the GST to ensure a quick tax payment in the coming days.
The traders planned a protest on Friday after they were notified to pay tax arms to civil servants.
“I asked them to withdraw the protest, and they agreed. There will be no measures to notify the notification issued to the merchants,” said the chief minister holding the financial portfolio.
The dispute over GST also caused heated political exchange. BJP accused the government of Congress led by Siddaramaiah of targeting to small businesses through extensive GST interventions and promised to stand with traders during the protests.
