The Government Railway Police (GRP) confiscated a 35 kg Ganja shipment in Hatiya – SMVT Bengaluru Super Fast Express Train at Jolarpet Station in Tirupatu on Saturday.
The police said the RPF police team performed surprising checks on the trains at the station under the security measures. The express train, which was on the way to Chennai, stopped at the station. The team searched the express train coaches, where they found three abandoned hiking bags in the general train section. When they opened the bags, they found about 15 packages that contained 25 kg of Ganja.
The initial question revealed that a gang of four people fell at the station after they noticed that the police team got on the train to search the coaches. They left the shipment on the train and fled from the place. The case was registered by Jolarpet RPF. Police analyzes CCTV shots on charged gang, which was reportedly involved in Ganja smugglers.
