
Main Minister Nitish Kumar led by the Bihar government on 8 July announced that 35 percent of all government positions in the state will only be reserved for female candidates that are permanent people of Bihar. Previously, women outside the state were also eligible for reservation in government jobs.
A key decision, adopted in the election year, was taken at a cabinet meeting, chaired by Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Nitish Kumar. Bihar goes to vote for the assembly at the end of this year.
According to the decision, all female candidates that are original Bihar will be provided 35 % of the reservation in all direct recruitment for government services and jobs.

In July 2016, the Bihar government led by Kumar approved a 35 % reservation for women in all government jobs in the state. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting, chaired by Kumar.
