New Delhi: Minister of Commerce with Department and Minister of Industry Piyush Goyal warned the largest Indian steelmakers against excessive relying on the import of metallurgical coke (Met Coke) -Klíčový raw material for steel-A invited them to build local capacity and avoid vulnerability similar to Chinese precious magnet magnet crisis.
“Better to develop your own coke stocks Met Coke and sufficient capacity,” Goyal said in the Indian Association Conclave in the new Delhi. “Maybe we won’t give you quotas next year.”
In particular, India, the second largest oil producer in the world, currently allows imports of 1.4 million tonnes (MT) Met Coke under the ground with a specific quota for January-June, which has been extended to 31 December since then.

Goyal expressed the disaster that steelmakers continued to import to save costs. “When Met Coke needed protection, I did not receive support from the steel industry. For a few savings, you preferred to import metal Coke,” Goyal said.
Goyal, who quoted the recent restrictions of China to rare soil magnets that rattled the global car chain, that the steel sector would have lessons and accept independence.
“Recent riots in the world, a permanent ban on magnet (rare soil), almost brought the entire automotive industry to the knees,” Goyal said, adding that the steel industry must understand the importance of self -confidence and mutual support.
“The spirit of mutual support must be instilled via the value chain and should start with your sector,” the Minister repeated.
Industrial veterans, such as chairman Jindal Steel Naveen Jindal, CEO of Amns India Dilip Oommen and the steel office of India Amanda Prakash were present in the program.
Goyal comments come at a time when there are wider concerns about the resistance of the supply chain and national security. With the growing tension of global trade, the country is reassessed by dependence on foreign countries for critical materials. The relying on the steel sector on import not only exposes it to the volatility of prices, but also leaves them uncertainty before the stocks of raw materials.

According to Goyal, the center is ready to support the growth of the sector, but expects this sector to be bold long -term investment. He encouraged cooperation between steelmakers, mining companies and politicians to build capacity and rely.
“The message of self -confidence is for all of us,” Goyal said.
Separately, 26 August, Minister of Trade chaired the meeting with the participating parties from steel and mining sectors to examine measures to increase the supply of other key raw materials: Železná Ruda.
He moved the Indian steelmakers manufacturers to increase domestic mining to help reduce prices and make local steel more competitive. This step would support this industry in achieving the export goal of the Goyal 50 MT in the coming years, Mint reported earlier.
Goyal also asked the steel industry to learn from auto-component manufacturers who only apply for access to the market around the world and do not require any support in which they do not care that they are not afraid of competition. “My favorite industry is Acma,” he said.
