Govt to develop Nalgonda as smart city: Minister Komatireddy

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said on Tuesday that the government will provide all necessary facilities in Nalgonda Municipal Corporation and develop it as a smart city while also trying to secure the Best Corporation Award.

The minister commissioned two humidifiers, procured at a cost of ₹ 1.01 crore, for sanitation purposes in the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation. The machines were inaugurated at Indirabhavan, his camp office in Nalgonda district headquarters.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Komatireddy said that the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation had recently received the Swachh Award. He said tenders at an estimated cost of ₹ 83 crore have been floated to ensure 24-hour drinking water supply to the residents.

The minister said that 63 km of CC roads have been laid in the corporation with SDF funds and roads and drainage facilities will be constructed in the remaining divisions. He added that the wastewater treatment plant (WTP) will be completed within six months.

The minister said that an outer ring road is being constructed around the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹ 900 crore along with drainage and STP works.

District Collector B. Chandrasekhar, Nalgonda Mayor Burri Chaitanya Srinivas Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Vamsi Krishna were among those present.
