Govt. to cover the medical expenses of injured police officers
The state government will bear the medical expenses of two policemen who had to undergo leg amputation following a road accident in Kanhangad. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala directed the Kerala Police Welfare Department to release an initial amount of ₹5,000 for each for treatment.
The accident took place during a highway patrol in Kanhangad when the car rammed into a parked police jeep. Police officers Suraj and Aloysious are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The home secretary inquired about their health and issued instructions to ensure that the officers receive suitable work placements when they return to duty, an official statement said.
