Govt. strengthen village administration after polls Local bodies: Panchayat Raj Chamber VP

AP Panchayat Raj Chamber Vice President and MARKFED Director Anepu Ramakrishna Naidu said on Monday that the Chandrababu Naidu government can further strengthen the village administration after the local body polls.

He hoped that the TDP and its alliance partners would win over 95% seats in the next elections, alleging that the previous YSRCP government had ruined local governance by diverting funds approved by the 15th Finance Commission.

Speaking to The Hindu in Srikakulam, he alleged that the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy government had diverted around ₹8,300 crore in funds allocated by the 15th Finance Commission for non-productive needs.

“The Center provides funds directly to the panchayats for sanitation, internal roads, water facilities, maintenance of street lights and others. But the then YSRCP diverted the funds through various routes without giving any scope to the panchayats to know about the allocated funds for their villages,” Mr. Naidu said.

“YSRCP won 80% of the Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad constituencies in the 2019 local body polls by misusing their police and administrative offices. Unfortunately, these ZPTC and MPTC members had no authority and no responsibility. They became puppets and followed the instructions of the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan who is destroying Reddy.

He said that the people in the villages were eagerly waiting to vote TDP and its alliance parties in the upcoming ZPTC, MPTC and other elections as they are fed up with the YSRCP members of ZPTC and MPTC. “The Panchayat Raj Chamber members have been touring all the villages to create awareness about the large scale diversion of funds from panchayats during the YSRCP government. We hope that TDP will win more than 95% seats this time and the elected members will ensure governance in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of India which has laid a solid foundation for the Panchayati Raj system in the country.”
