The state government has taken urgent measures to ensure that payment of salaries and day-to-day functioning in cultural institutions are not disrupted due to vacant leadership positions. Tourism and Culture Minister PC Vishnunadh has directed that interim charge be given to officers in institutions where the posts of secretary and member secretary remain vacant.

The decision applies to major cultural bodies including Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, Moyin Kutty Vaidyar Mappila Kala Akademi and Cultural Welfare Fund Board. According to the minister’s office, interim measures have been put in place to ensure that employees do not face delays in the payment of wages and that routine administrative functions continue without interruption. The move comes amid concerns about administrative loopholes affecting the functioning of cultural institutions in the state.
