The official X (formerly Twitter) account on the International Agency Reuters was blocked in India, allegedly “in response to legal demand”, according to the notification displayed by the Social Media platform.
However, a government spokesman said PTI that there was no legal requirement that would cause an IT center to detain this account and cooperate with the problem with the X.
Reuters X is likely to be renewed soon, added a message.
“Working with x to solve the problem”
“There is no requirement to detain Reuters from the Indian government and we are constantly working with X to solve the problem,” PTI spokesman said.
E -mail sent to Reuters, who was looking for comments, did not call an answer, the message was added.
Reuters account among many others listed during OP Sindoor: Source
The report quoted other sources that stated that the demand for blocking X and Reuters account was made during the Sindoor operation in May. It was also among several other hundreds of other accounts listed for being blocked from access in India, but it was not done at that time.
The source added that it seems that X owned by Elon Musk has now acted on this application and blocked the X handle in India. Since this problem is not currently relevant, the government has asked X to explain blocking and lift the embargo.
“The order was issued on May 7 (during the Sindoor Operation), but it was not forced. It seems that X now forced this command, which is a mistake. The government addressed X for its resolution,” the official source said.
