Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has ordered the release of ₹1,032 crore for outstanding dues of government employees and unpaid bills under Panchayat Raj and Roads & Buildings (R&B) departments.
In a review meeting held with senior officials at Praja Bhavan on Friday, the Deputy CM directed for immediate disbursement of funds to clear long-pending liabilities inherited from the previous government.
According to official sources, the finance department has released ₹712 crore to clear arrears related to government employees and is continuing the month-long exercise initiated by Mr. Vikramarka to settle all dues systematically. “Employee payments and departmental bills will be settled gradually to ensure financial discipline and timely settlement,” the Deputy CM said during the meeting.
In addition, the government took a policy decision to settle all pending accounts below Rs 10 lakh, resulting in a disbursement of Rs 320 crore to small and medium contractors and suppliers. Of this, Rs 95 crore covering 3,610 accounts under Roads and Buildings Department and Rs 225 crore covering 43,364 accounts under Panchayat Raj and Rural Local Bodies have been released.
Principal Secretary Finance Sandeep Kumar Sultania and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
