The state government is working to provide the best sports training to sportspersons, identify and nurture talent and help them win medals in national and international competitions, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath said.
Mr. Sivanath, who was the chief guest at the inauguration of the three-day regional sports meet organized by the technical education department of the Government Polytechnic, Vijayawada on Monday (December 29), said sportspersons should take advantage of the support provided by the government.
He said efforts are being made to develop stadiums and sports grounds with the best facilities to host national competitions. He added that the government is also planning to organize village-level sports competitions to scout and promote talent in rural areas.
Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao, who was also present, said that organizing sports competitions in schools and colleges contributes to the mental and physical development of students. He urged the students to take inspiration from Vijayawada sportspersons who have achieved great heights and won national and international recognition to achieve success in their respective fields.
Regional Polytechnic Joint Director GV Ramachandra Rao, Government Polytechnic Principal M. Vijayasaradhi and others were present.
