
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu handed over the free power eligibility certificate to the beneficiaries of the handloom at a public meeting in Udayagiri constituency of Nellore district on Wednesday.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called his government’s massive welfare measures through the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ (At the service of the poor) program on the very first day of every month, expressing its commitment to uplift them from poverty.
Mr Naidu on Wednesday attended several programs in Vinjamur constituency of Udayagiri in Nellore district where he distributed social security pensions and free power certificates to weavers beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the ₹ 2,750 crore spent every month on social pensions is significantly higher than the disbursement under this head in neighboring Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ and ‘Deepam 2.0’ have been implemented with due seriousness to extend three free LPG cylinders to households, he added, adding that piped gas would soon be made available to all.
On the irrigation front, he thanked the Center for releasing ₹1,300 crore for the Polavaram project and announced that he would dedicate the project to the nation ahead of the subsequent Godavari Pushkarams.
He also announced ₹34 crore for bringing water from the Somasila canal to Pathacheruvu in Vinjamur and assured that the reservoir would be full by October.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday interacted with Yaragorla Balamma of Vinjamur SC Colony in Udayagiri constituency of Nellore district before submitting her widow’s pension.
On the industrial growth of Nellore district, Mr. Naidu said that project like Ramayapatnam port, Dugarajapatnam ship building center and solar manufacturing units will create around 80,000 jobs.
Turning his ire on the opposition, Mr Naidu chided certain groups for indulging in “hit and run politics” by spreading disinformation against the government.
He specifically mentioned the Juvvaladinne fishing port and clarified that the 2018 proposal (previous TDP regime) was implemented at a cost of ₹285 crore.
‘Poll promise fulfilled’
Mr. Naidu fulfilled an election promise and announced the sanction of free electricity to weavers from April 1. The scheme would cost ₹153 crore to the exchequer but would significantly reduce the financial burden on the weaver beneficiaries. He also announced a provident fund of ₹ 5 crore for weavers, establishment of five clusters of handlooms under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.
He also announced that 5.5 million houses have already been completed in 21 months and another 4.5 million houses are ready by December this year.
