Govt. determined to keep promises made to Telangana activists: Ponnam Prabhakar

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfill promises made to Telangana movement activists, including allotment of 250 square yards of land and formation of a cabinet sub-committee to implement welfare measures for them.

He was speaking after Kooragayala Uma Rani took over as Mayor of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation in the presence of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Gouda on Friday.

Congratulating Mayor Uma Rani and Deputy Mayor Salma Tahseen, Mr. Prabhakar explained how the government’s policies led to the Congress winning maximum seats in 116 municipalities and seven corporations. He said the state cabinet will take a decision within 40 days to improve job opportunities and accelerate development in municipalities and corporations.

TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud said during the swearing-in ceremony of the mayor that politics should be limited to election time and that all parties must come together beyond political differences to ensure the development of the city and promise special funds for the development of the city.

He said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was paying special attention to the growth of Nizamabad, while Minister-in-Charge Uttam Kumar Reddy had taken the responsibility of mobilizing development funds at the constituency level.

Leader Shabbir Ali, Nizamabad Rural MLA Bhupathi Reddy and others spoke on the occasion.
