Late payments have an impact on the working capital of SMEs. “Working capital loans are very difficult for SMEs, even more difficult than capital investment loans, and a lack of working capital could immediately lead to a temporary halt in operations,” said Veeramani C, professor and director of the Center for Development Studies, an economic policy think tank based in Thiruvanthapuram. “Global adverse economic conditions are exacerbating MSMEs’ working capital challenges as lenders become more cautious.”
