School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa said the government is positive for aided school teachers to include ‘Arogya Sanjivini’ schemes that enable teachers to get cashless treatment at empaneled hospitals.
He was responding to a debate under Article 330 in the Karnataka Legislative Council on the issues of disparity in facilities for aided and government schools. Members SL Bhojegowda, Puttanna, Shashil Namoshi, SV Sankanur, DT Srinivas and Ramoji Gowda raised the issue asking that aided teachers be treated at par with government school teachers.
Mr. Bangarappa said that since the matter required the approval of the Finance Ministry, he would consult the Chief Minister and make an honest effort to extend the facility to teachers of aided schools. Intervening on the issue, Mr. Puttanna pointed out that Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao had earlier also promised to extend the facility to assisted teachers.
Calendar of events
On the request of the members to approve the recruitment process for aided schools in the state, the minister announced that the calendar of events for the recruitment of teachers will be published within 15 days.
Regarding the issue of supplementary pension insurance, the minister said that since this issue does not concern his department, he would discuss it with the Chief Minister.
On the demand to allow the promotion of primary school teachers to the posts of post graduate primary school teachers, Mr. Gundu Rao said that as it contained many technicalities, he would try to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Less burden
The minister also said that the department is further reducing the burden of non-teaching duties related to mid-day meal, including buying eggs and bananas, and in this regard attendance through facial recognition is being introduced. By the next academic year, the process would be simplified and the burden reduced, he assured the members.
