
Government art and scientific universities on Monday reopened for second and third year students. Some universities also opened for first year students.
Students began to start a new academic year at the Government University in Perubmakkam. The university provides approximately 35,000 students, especially from modest families in the flats on the Slum Council. In its nine departments, the joint educational university has a total of 1,340 students. The Faculty of University said up to 65% of students were girls.
