The government said on Thursday (May 15, 2025) that it approved up to 187 startups for exemption from income tax.
The tax advantage allows you to start a 100% deduction of income tax deduction for any three consecutive years in the ten -year window from the date of incorporation.
The income tax scheme is designed to support developing businesses in their formative years, support innovations, job creation and wealth generation.
“The Ministry for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) approved 187 startups for exemption from income tax according to the improved section of the 80-IAC Income Tax Act,” the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said.
The decision was taken during the Mezibor Council (IMB) meeting.
As a result, more than 3,700 startups have now been awarded since the scheme.
In the announcement during the Union budget 2025-26, the government expanded the eligibility window for startups to require benefits according to the 80-IC section.
Startups incorporated 1 April 2030 are now eligible to register and give new businesses more time and opportunities that benefit from this financial relief.
“The procedurely revised evaluation framework established by DPIIT has made the process of submitting applications structured and more transparent. Complete applications are now reviewed within 120 days, ensure faster decision making and reducing procedural delay,” she said.
Startups, which were not approved in the last round, were encouraged to re -evaluate and improve their applications, added.
DPIIT recommended applicants to focus on proving technological innovations, market potential, scalability and clear contributions to employment and economic growth.
