Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday (May 1, 2026) said India has maintained stable energy supplies and protected consumers from global price shocks despite the prolonged disruption caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the crisis in West Asia.
Mr Puri said the country remained resilient even after 60 days of supply disruption, attributing stability to long-term planning and timely policy interventions by the Narendra Modi government.
