Governor Tamil Nadu RN Ravi came under fire for asking students to sing “Jai Shri Ram” during an event that took place on Saturday at a private engineering university in Madurai. Ravi, who was the main guest of office, closed his speech by forcing students to repeat a religious slogan behind him.
Velachery Congress Mla JMH Hassan Maulaan strongly criticized the Governor and described this step by an obvious manifestation of ideological bias.
“Governor takes one of the highest positions in the country, but speaks as a religious leader,” Maulaana said.
“He has become a propaganda master of RSS and BJP. See, this is not the way the governor can act.”

“What does the Governor of TN do is very convict, behaves like a RSS face in Tamil Nadu and spreads his ideology. The position he holds is constitutional position, so he must remain neutral,” Hassan said.
Congress’s leader also pointed out that Governor Ravi was previously criticized by the Supreme Court, who issued an opinion against him for negotiations against an unconstitutional, unlawful and inappropriate manner by delaying measures on 10 accounts approved by the legislature of Tamil Nadu.
Governor condemns derogatory notes against women
During his address at the College of Madurai on Saturday, the Governor strongly criticized the leader of the ruling DMK, using what he described as “vulgar and contempt”, described the comments as “unacceptable and shameful”.
“We recently witnessed that the individual held a high position in the ruling government, using a deeply vulgar, ridiculous and offensive language towards women. Such behavior is not only a public character, but is absolutely unacceptable and shameful,” said Governor.
He expressed concern about the growing adoption of such behavior in public life and noted: “He is deeply worrying that we got to a point where someone in the position of authority can speak of women in such a derogatory way. This is not just unacceptable-it’s a dangerous trend.”
Governor Ravi referred specifically to the individuals and said, “I use this term with a great reluctance-the German-humbled and insulting women, but also managed contemptible remarks by Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.”
DMK recently removed the Minister of the Forest to Ponmuda from his position as a representative of the Secretary -General for his derogatory and “vulgar” commentary on women and some aspects of Hinduism.
Ponmuda allegedly created a “joke” about two different sects of Hinduism, Shaivism and VaiShnavism, which caused criticism from several political leaders.

A controversial decision of Governor Ravi on 10 accounts
This last incident is not the first time the Governor Ravi has been involved in questionable matters. This is followed by a critical decision of the Supreme Court on April 8 on his decision to reserve 10 accounts for the President’s valuation.
The Supreme Court strongly rebuked Governor Ravi and ruled that his decision to detain consent and reserve accounts violated the constitutional provisions. The court explained that the governor could not withstand or apply the concepts of an absolute veto or a pocket veto. According to the bench, the governor must choose from three options when dealing with accounts: granting consent, detention of consent, or being reserved for the President. The Court also decided that if the Governor was submitted for the second time, the law was submitted, if it was not changed in comparison with its original version.
After the decision of the Chief Minister Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin described the Supreme Court’s judgment as “historical” and called it a victory for all state governments in the country.
The ongoing tensions between the Governor Ravi and the ruling DMK government in Tamil nada escalated several questions.
