Government of Telangana. announces maximum retail price of three varieties of fine rice between ₹ 66 and ₹ 79 per kg

The Telangana government on Saturday (October 31) announced the maximum retail price of quality rice varieties that people consume the most. The maximum retail price per kg of the BPT / KNM variety has been fixed at ₹66; RNR / Telangana Sona at ₹ 74 per and HMT / JSR variety at ₹ 79, in Hyderabad and Medchal.

The Chief Allotment Officer, Hyderabad issued instructions to display the prices on banners at places clearly visible in rice mills, wholesale and retail shops, with the name of the company mentioned at the bottom. Similar orders have also been issued by the officials of Medchal district. The prices were fixed after discussions with wholesalers and retailers, amid rising prices of fine rice – which have crossed ₹80 per kg in and around the city.

Noting that foodgrains cannot be sold at a price exceeding the maximum retail price, the official said that Civil Supplies officials will be vigilant. Actions would be taken against violations.
