Police on Saturday arrested six accused in the kidney racket case who were allegedly operating from Global Multi-Speciality Hospitals at Madanapalle in Annamayya district.
Speaking to the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Mahendra said that a 15-member team led by Dr. Anjaneyulu, Hospital Owner and District Coordinator of Health Services (DCHS) at Annamayya.
The SP representative said the gang brought Yamuna (29) from Boddapalle in Visakhapatnam’s Anandapuram mandal to Madanapalle on November 9 through a pre-planned operation. Investigators found that kidneys were illegally harvested from Yamuna and another individual on the same day. While one procedure was successful, Yamuna died after a botched operation, exposing the network’s operations.
Among those arrested are Dr. Anjaneyulu, Balarangadu alias Balu and Meharaj, two managers of dialysis centers of government hospitals in Madanapalle and Kadiri, and key operatives Pelli Padma, Kakarla Satya and Yamun’s lover Suribabu.
