Google is reportedly developing a new feature for Gemini Live that will make it easier to track conversations users have with chatbots. According to the report, Google is developing a new conversation summary button that will convert bidirectional voice conversations into full paragraph-style reports with bullets. It is said that the feature will appear once the conversation is over, but the implementation of the feature can be changed before the tool is released to the public.
Gemini Live’s conversation summary function
According to an Android Authority report, the mountain view-based tech giant is working on the conversation summary feature of Gemini’s real-time interface. Evidence for this feature was discovered during the removal of the Android Application Package (APK) in Google App Beta version 16.6.23. However, the feature is not in real time at this time and beta testers will not be able to try it out.
According to the screenshot shared by the publication, once the conversation is over, the new Gemini Live feature will appear as a small box in the lower left corner of the Gemini App. In the current state, this function only displays some prompt words and can be shared with Gemini by tapping the box.
According to the screenshot, the “Box” button sends a detailed prompt requiring Gemini to act as a “high-skilled conversational AI assistant, dedicated to generating summary.” The prompt also includes instructions about the summary, such as “Generate a short paragraph summary”, “Create a non-propagation title”, and not including fluff. Once the prompt is shared with Gemini, it provides a comprehensive summary of the entire conversation.
As shown in the screenshot, the feature appears to be in its exposed form and will most likely not ship. Android Authority speculates that Google can automate the process and generate a summary automatically after each conversation, or provide a button in the Gemini Live interface to generate the same content. In either case, it is unlikely that the user will still see the initial prompt and may become a backend process.
