Google released new experimental artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities through Search Labs on Thursday. The feature, called Ask Me, is available in Google Search and allows users to allow AI Chatbot to call business for inquiries. This feature is currently available for selecting users in the United States in both Android and iOS versions of the Google Search app. To comply with the functionality of the above location, users will need to sign up for Google’s Search Lab and activate it. Earlier this month, Search Lab released a daily listening, which can generate an audio overview of user discovery feeds.
Google releases in Search Labs ask me
Rose Yao, vice president of product management at Google, announced the new Search Lab feature in a post about X (formerly known as Twitter). The new AI-driven feature will be available in Google Search, which can prompt the AI to call the business for specific queries.
Once activated, the feature will automatically turn on in Google Search. Currently, it only supports nail salons and car repair shops. When the user makes a related query on the search engine, the user will now see the new request for me card.
The card appears with a call and a gleaming icon with a single line description that says: “Google calls the local service to ask about its price and availability.” When clicking the “Start” button, the full screen interface will be turned on by the user to select Place to serve. So if they ask about car repairs, it will recommend choosing such as pre-order maintenance, oil change, tire rotation, fuel filter replacement, engine filter replacement, etc.
Once the question is specified, the feature seeks information about the vehicle, such as the year of manufacturing, branding, and drive distance. The user is then prompted to choose when to be willing to serve and whether they want to update via SMS or email.
Once the steps are completed, AI uses Gemini’s capabilities to appeal to the enterprise’s natural language and ask about price and availability. This feature generates a complete report in the same situation and sends messages via SMS or email after 30 minutes.
