According to instructions on social media, Gemini Live will soon be available to the desktop version of Google Chrome. The two-way conversational artificial intelligence (AI) feature was originally launched to Gemini’s advanced users on Android in September, and eventually GEMINI, which launched the iOS app last month, entered the iOS platform last month. However, the logo of the feature found on the desktop version of Chrome Build suggests that this could be the next home for Google AI capabilities.
Gemini live on Google Chrome
TIPSTER LEOPEVA64 (@Leopeva64) detailed the rumors about Gemini Live on Google Chrome last month. A new feature flag was found in Chromium Gerrit, a code review tool for developers working on Chromium open source projects. It is said to be implemented with the Glic code name, which is supposedly abbreviation for Gemini Live Live in Chrome.
The new button in Chrome’s Tab Strip now opens a floating panel, although it is not possible to interact with this panel yet. After digging deep into chrome Gerrit and based on the codename, I’m 99% sure this feature is… Gemini for Chrome: https://t.co/op1jboop2s pic.twitter.com/9vshgdapeu

According to the prompter, the activation sign will raise an exclamation mark tag icon. The AI feature reportedly requires microphone and location access, and has its own settings page and a dedicated user interface (UI). Users also have the option to access Glic in the toolbar, open it with keyboard shortcuts, and “View and manage” its activities.
Although its implementation in Chrome is said to have been discovered, it is impossible to interact with the panel according to The Tipster.
Gemini live function
First released on Google I/O 2024, Gemini Live is an AI-powered feature that allows users to have real-time conversations with chatbots in natural language. They can verbally ask questions about AI assistants, and the query responds to them similarly. It also allows for follow-up questions without providing the entire context every time.
In Gemini Live, users can choose between 10 different sounds to chat with Gemini, each with different pitch, regional accent and energy levels. AI features support over 40 languages including nine Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Marathi , Telugu, Tamil and Urdu.
