The judge of the court in Panjab, who visited Bengalur, was cheated on 12,000 GBP after the employee in the criminal investigation department shared a false contact number originating from Google.
According to the complaint of Judge 2. September, the Office of the Deputy General Inspector (CID) was looking for help in booking a room in the state guest house Kumara Krupa. Instead of directly checking with the government’s guest house, he searched the policeman’s personal assistant, and handed over the number that proved fraudulent.
The judge trusts the resources and converted 12,000 ₹ as an advance payment, only to find out on Saturday that no reservation was made and the phone number was off.
The incident was embarrassed to the police department and the state government, and the victim was an official guest of the judiciary.
The police officers confessed to the delay and noted that fraudsters often create false websites and contact numbers on behalf of hotels and guest houses. Police Cyber Crime in the central division on Saturday on the basis of a complaint registered companies and launched a probe.
