
The Guruvayur Devaswom Music Festival will enter its golden jubilee year and take the Devaswom extensive celebrations to correspond to the grandeur of the milestone.
The program stretches for over a year and covers six places throughout the state and will honor the inheritance of Carnatic Maestro Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar through heritage lectures, music seminars, felicitation of his disciples and veterans and artists.
The opening ceremony at the state level will take place on Sunday at 5 pm in the Calendar of Chembai Vaidanatha Bhagavathar in Kottay, Palakkad at 5 pm, which coincides with the first day of Chingam in Malayalam. The festivities begin with floral honors in Khembai Mandiram and Kambai Mandapam.
Devaswom Minister HV Vasavan will formally open the celebrations and release the Golden Jubilee logo and will be handed over by the Devaswom Obrun Kumar manager.
Chairman of Guruvayur Devaswom VK Vijayan will be chaired. K. Radhakrishnan, a deputy, will be an honorary guest, will issue a commemorative postage stamp and cover. PP Sumod, MLA, will start the Golden Jubilee Edition of Chembai’s Biography.
Significant disciples and contributors, including the pupil of the Chembai Sukumari Narendramenone, Midangam Maestro Kuzhalmandam Ramakrishhnan, secretary of the Fine Arts PN Subbaraman and Designer of the Vimal logo.
The poet and writer Alankode Lelakrishhnan delivers the commemorative address of the Chembai.
After a formal function, music lovers will be treated at the Karnatic Concert of the musician TM Krishny, accompanied by Dr. Thiruvananthapuram N. Sampath on the violin, Harinarayanan on Mridangama and Thiruvananthapuram R. Rajesh.
The jubilee celebrations will be held seminar 19. August at the Government Chembai Memorial Music College in Palakkada, which will be ceremonially inaugurated.
The Golden Jubilee Festival will be hosted in the Guruvayur temple; Kozhikode Tali temple; Regional theater Sangeethha Nataka Academi, Thrissur; Temple of Vaikom Mahadeva; and Thiruvananthapuram Srivaraham Kambai Memorial Hall, in addition to the native village of Kambai.
