Customs officials at the Calicut International Airport seized a gold alloy worth over ₹1 million from a passenger who arrived from Ras Al-Khaimah on an Air Arabia flight on Wednesday.
The passenger, a native of Ponnani, allegedly tried to smuggle the gold by hiding the packages in the diaper of his eight-month-old baby. Customs officials found the packages during a detailed inspection after becoming suspicious.
A gold compound was also found hidden inside the passenger’s body. He was taken into custody.
