According to a press agency, nor Kuttikar demanded that the Rane had to issue a public apology “immediately” in the same victim’s department, where the Minister reportedly humiliated a higher doctor during the inspection.
What exactly happened
On Monday, a massive protest broke out at the Goa Medical College (GMC) when the doctors, head of the department, trainees and medical students joined in anger against the Minister of Health Vishwajit Rane and demanded a public apology and ending VIP culture in hospitals.
The protests came after the incident, when the Minister of Health Rane used a hard language against Dr. Rudish Kuttikař. The Minister of Health was accused of humiliation and disrespect for a higher doctor, dr. Rudresh kuttikar, during the inspection.
The incident video was viral.
Kuttikar reported that the incident was escalating after being a relative who came to the B12 injection at the emergency department, asked to visit the outpatient department (OPD).
“The incident on June 7 was when someone’s relative came to ask for B12. It wasn’t an emergency injection. We said you had to go to OPD,” CMO quoted.
The protest recorded extensive participation of medical experts across departments.
Doctors warn to go to strike
Doctors, supported by the Guard Guard Association, warned to go to strike if the minister apologizes.
“We are asking (Rane) to apologize publicly and the minister would come to the victims and apologize. If our demand is not met, we can go to the strike,” CMO told reporters.
Viral video and requirements of doctors
Kuttikar described this and rejected the apology of the minister and described her and “Studio apology.” He asked for an apology where the incident occurred.
The kuttikar remains adamant for the minister to apologize to the public.
“I saw a video (apologies to the minister), but it is an apology to study. All doctors demand that they apologize for the incident. It should stand in front of people. Just like a video of my humiliation was viral. The same should be viral because I was completely humiliated that day.
Goa Medical College Dean Sm Bandekar, who spoke of resident doctors, said that the State Ministry of Health reported on the requirements of doctors and was waiting for an answer.
In addition, the hospital agreed that video must be disabled in the area of patient treatment.
“There was no doctor at the command and there was no investigation. I assured them that there was no suspension,” Bandekar said.
He added: “The second request is that the (medical) minister and the ministry should publicly apologize. I informed the Ministry of their letters and we are waiting for the ministry response.”
“The third requirement they demanded is that there should be no video in the area of patient treatment, we also want to register against the person who made the video that day (during visiting Minister of Health Goa), we identify this person,” the official said.
