Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has directed engineers to install GPS trackers on all sanitary and engineering vehicles within a week. He directed that these trackers be integrated with the upcoming command control room to enable real-time monitoring of vehicle movement and service delivery.
The Commissioner inspected Pedda Palakaluru, Udyoga Nagar, Vijayapuri Colony, Summerpet, Inner Ring Road – Sriram Nagar, Dwaraka Nagar and Arundelpet on Friday, reviewing sanitation and development works. He issued several operational instructions to field officers.
During the inspection, Mr. Srinivasulu said the GPS system will enable the company to monitor and track garbage collection, removal of tree branches and other debris by SS teams and movement of drinking water supply vehicles in areas without pipes. Integrated monitoring would show the number of trips made by each vehicle and the specific locations covered.
He commissioned engineers to prepare designs for the completion of new roads and warned that roads must not be laid until adequate drainage works were completed. Planning The secretaries in the ward secretariats have been asked to take strict measures to prevent unauthorized and illegal constructions.
In Arundelpet, the commissioner ordered town planning officials to stop construction work that deviated from the plans approved by the GMC. He also emphasized the need to promote public awareness about ‘Puramitram’, ‘Mana Mitra’, ‘Swachhta App’ and WhatsApp Governance and urged the department secretariat staff to encourage residents to download and use these platforms for better civic participation.
