
Mayor of GMC Kovelamudi Ravindra on Tuesday chair the meeting of the Permanent Committee.
Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) approved development work worth more than 34 GBP Crore across different divisions in the city.
Mayor Covelamudi Ravindra announced the decision after the meeting of Stander, which took place on Tuesday in his chamber. The event was attended by the city commissioner Puli Srinivasulu and all members of the committee.
The Committee considered 101 proposals concerning infrastructure projects and civic improvement. After detailed discussions, approved for work, including the construction of cement concrete roads, drains and culverts, with a special focus on suburban and recently merged villages.
Mr. Ravindra said that the priority was given by the repair and modernization of parks with modern equipment and strengthening the city greenery under the newly launched “green mission”. As part of the initiative, seedlings will be distributed to any household in the gunture and action plans are introduced for plantation units.
Proposals for new gyms and sidewalks also received a nod of the committee. The mayor emphasized the inclusive nature of development and repeated that projects are carried out outside caste, religion or political affiliation to improve civic life.
