Greeting wildlife lovers on the occasion of Global Tiger Day on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government reaffirms its commitment to science-based conservation, community participation and sustainable development that enhances tiger conservation.

International Tiger Day is celebrated every year on July 29 to raise global awareness of tiger conservation.

“Greetings to all wildlife lovers on Global Tiger Day. The people of India are proud to be home to nearly 70% of the world’s tiger population,” Mr Modi said in a post on ‘X’.

The Prime Minister said that India’s tiger conservation efforts are inspired by the centuries-old culture of living in harmony with nature and driven by the collective will of our people.

“We also reaffirm our commitment to science-based conservation, community participation and sustainable development that enhances tiger conservation,” he said.
