The special meeting of the GHMC Permanent Committee, convened by the Mayor of Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, unanimously decided to go for fresh offers to maintain street headlights, which is a chronic problem in the city because LED lamps were installed.
In front of the Permanent Committee, two GHMC electric wings were submitted, one to revive the agreement with certain modifications with Limited Energy Efficiency Services Limited (ESL) for maintenance of street lighting and the other to select a new agency for comprehensive operation and maintenance of street lighting.
Another commissioner Venugopal Reddy explained the gaps in the maintenance of ESL and the modifications proposed in the agreement, along with the provisions of new offers, which are said to connect all gaps and ensure phase replacement of all bulbs, installing new lamps and CCMS boxes and providing infrastructure.
Since the committee unanimously voted for the second option, Mrs. Vijayalakshmi ordered the Zonal Commissioners to ensure the purchase and maintenance of street headlights until the new agency was taken over.
The agreement with the Esles on the installation and maintenance of LED Streetlights ended this month after seven years of turbulent roads full of complaints on non -functional street headlights.
