The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken a touching initiative to fulfill the dreams in the eyes of the children of its sanitation workers by organizing a trip for them to the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad.
For the first time, these young students will go on a specially curated exposure visit to the IIT Hyderabad campus on January 31 between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., a GHMC statement said.
The program is organized in collaboration with E-Cell at IIT Hyderabad, with special arrangements for transport, food, safety and mentoring support – ensuring that every child feels welcome, valued and encouraged.
The trip, open to children from classes VI to X, is not a simple campus tour but is designed to fuel ambition, expand horizons and inspire children, the note said, crediting GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan.
A total of 180 students were selected for the trip, three students from each club. They will be transported to IIT-H in six buses, after being picked up from 12 locations in the city, including the GHMC headquarters.
Mr. Karnan directed officials to ensure the success of this initiative, which will include interactive sessions with IIT faculty and students, visits to academic buildings, libraries and innovation centers as well as motivational programs tailored to instill curiosity and confidence. For many participants, this will be their first ever experience with a world-class institution, the note says.
