(Reuters) -Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred from prison in Florida to a lower security facility in Texas to continue his 20-year sentence for helping a late financier and sexual delinrator Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse of minor girls, the US prison office said.
Maxwell’s transfer from Tallahassee, a low security prison, to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, comes a week after she met the deputy of the US Prosecutor Todd Blanch.
Maxwell’s lawyer David Markus confirmed that she was moved, but said he had no other comment. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Justice did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
BOP classifies prison camps, such as Bryan, as a minimum security institution, the lowest of the five levels of safety in the federal system. Such devices have limited or no peripheral fencing. According to the Bureau, they have low -security equipment such as FCI Tallahassee.
Asked why Maxwell was transferred, Bop Donald Murphy said he couldn’t comment on the specifics of the imprisoned individual’s prison, but that BOP determines where the prisoners were sent on the basis of factors, including “the level of security and supervision required by the prisoner.”
