Ghaziabad triple suicide: Investigation into the shocking suicide of three minor sisters in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad has revealed disturbing details with police saying the sisters were depressed because their father took away their phones after he saw the sisters were obsessed with Korean culture, police said.
According to the Ghaziabad police, the minors were playing an online task-based game on their phones.
Nishika (16), Prachi (14) and Pakhi (12) jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor of their residential tower in Noida’s Bharat City Society under the jurisdiction of Trans-Hindon police station, late on Wednesday, February 4.
What probe revealed?
After the girls’ father took away their phones, the minors were unable to play online games and talk to their Korean friends, police said, adding that their father later sold the phones.
On the night of the incident, the teenagers took their mother’s phone, but did not have access to the Korean app on the device. A forensic team that reached the spot and seized the mobile phone could not find any access to the Korean app, PTI reported.
The father of the minors has three wives
The interrogation confirmed that currently the father of the teenagers – Chetan Kumar has three wives – Sujata (mother of Nishika), Heena (mother of Prachi and Pakhi) and Tina. All three wives – mothers of teenagers are biological sisters.
In 2015, Kumar’s live-in partner died under suspicious circumstances after he fell from the roof of a flat in Rajendra Nagar Colony in Sahibabad Police Station area. Later, the police dropped the case and ruled the death a suicide, Patil told PTI.
All three juvenile sisters who committed suicide were more attached to their fathers instead of their mothers. That is why they addressed the father in the suicide letter and did not mention the mother’s name anywhere.
On Wednesday, DCP Patil said the police found a suicide note in the residence which clarified that the minor sisters were influenced by Korean culture. However, no specific gaming application was mentioned in the note.
The fingerprints, including the handwritten suicide letter and messages, have been sent to the forensic science laboratory, whose report is still awaited, DCP (Trans Hindon) Nimish Patil told PTI on Saturday.
Police have released details of the mobile phones
Cybercrime teams are trying to trace the phones using their IMEI numbers to identify the buyers and recover data linked to the Korean apps, DCP Patil said, adding that investigations are underway on several fronts as police await the report from the forensic science lab.
On Saturday, DCP Patil said that Kumar bought one mobile phone for Nishika about three months ago and another for Prachi about 15 days ago.
The three sisters were cremated at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi on Wednesday evening.
