Germany vs Curacao Live, FIFA World Cup 2026: Can the 4-time champions end the opening day?

Germany were on top of the world in 2014 when they conquered Brazil to become world champions. Much was expected in 2018, but they shocked everyone by exiting the group stage in Russia, losing to Mexico and South Korea.

Everyone must have thought that 2022 would be the year that everything would change. But they again lost the opening match against Japan and were again eliminated from the group stage as other results did not go their way. They now head to Houston to snap that opening game losing streak and start their World Cup campaign on a positive note.

Julian Nagelsmann raised eyebrows with his team selection when he decided to go with the experienced and decided to bring Manuel Neuer out of retirement for the tournament and field him as the number one.

A World Cup would be a dream come true for Curacao. With a population of just 158,000 and the smallest country in this year’s tournament, most of their players are from the Netherlands. They have the likes of Tahith Chong, Jurgen Locadia and others who can spring surprises on their day.

With Dick Advocaat as their coach, Curacao have a master tactician who can deliver a strong performance from this young side.
