When most foreign tourists plan their trip to India, they often arrive with certain expectations—many of which are shaped by media portrayals and word-of-mouth experiences. Cleanliness and crowded streets are among the factors that come to mind. But when the travel vlogger from Germany landed in India and finally arrived in Goa, what he discovered defied all his assumptions.
In a now-viral Instagram video titled ‘The Cleanest Place I’ve Seen in India’, Alex Welder shared details of his experience visiting South Goa and explained how the place was completely different from his preconceptions.
“This is probably the cleanest place I’ve been in India. I always thought Goa would be this super party hotspot – lots of tourists and lots of trash. But we walked along this beach here in South Goa and we didn’t see a single piece of trash. This place is a nesting place for turtles and it’s absolutely beautiful,” Welder said while walking along Galgibaga Beach.
“These are the only three local guys we found. They’re laughing and looking at the sky the whole time. I think they’re having a great time, if you know what I mean.”
Amazed by the beauty of the place, Welder even compared it to Europe, saying, “This place doesn’t really feel tropical. Look at the trees here – it’s more like a European country. You even have dustbins here and there, which is a rare find that you really appreciate.”
Here is the social media reaction
Since the last update, the video has had nearly 197,000 views and hundreds of comments. Most of the viewers praised the breathtaking beauty of South Goa, while some urged Welder to “guard” the place so that it is not overrun by tourists.
“South is a beautiful part of Goa. Still untouched by the crazy destruction going on in the north. Hope and pray it stays that way,” said one user, while another added: “South Goa really is the prettiest and being a local here, every day is a beach day.”
A third commented: “Please don’t do it mate. With all your good intentions it will actually be the reason it went wrong. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”
A fourth said, “South Goa is much better than North Goa. Please explore the beautiful Dudhsagar Falls in South Goa.”
