At just 17 years old, Quenda has already made over 40 appearances for Sporting Lisbon’s first team, scoring two goals across all competitions this season. His early career trajectory suggests a bright future, and fans will be eager to see him don the Chelsea shirt in 2026.

Manchester United were also keen on Geovany Quenda transfer
Chelsea’s acquisition of Quenda comes as a blow to Manchester United, who were also interested in the teenager. Managed by former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim, United had reportedly advanced talks to sign Quenda, according to a recent Give Me Sport report. However, it appears they have missed out on the young talent.
Quenda could have been a valuable addition for Amorim, who has faced a challenging start at Old Trafford and may have looked to his former club for reinforcements. Instead, Chelsea’s project seems to have won over the player, with Enzo Maresca steering the team back on track this season.
While Chelsea’s future looks promising under Maresca, Manchester United may still need a few more years to rebuild and compete at the highest level.
